Systematic Review of Job Participation in the Elderly - Based on the New Old Age Discourse -

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate research trends domestic study which job participation of the elderly on the basis of the new old age discourse and to raise the necessity of occupational therapy in the work of the elderly.
Methods : We analyzed 51 published academic papers from January 2010 to March 2017 for the utilization of web-based academic databases.
Results : First, more than five papers are published annually in the research on job participation of the elderly. Second, there were a total of 10 studies on the elderly residing in Seoul city. Third, quantitative research was conducted in 40 cases (78.4%). Fourth, the causal relationship between job participation and successful aging of the elderly were the most studied subjects.
Conclusion : The following research is needed. First, occupational therapists' attention is needed so that 'work' of elderly people can be meaningful work. Second, researches on elderly people living in Jeonnam and Jeonbuk provinces with high elderly ratios should be actively pursued. Third, it should be educated differently according to social expectation and experience in the employment project of the elderly, and continuous education should be provided for individual lifelong learning. Fourth, opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment, and volunteerism that can bring up professionalism to recycle or revitalize individual expertise should be provided to society as a whole.
